First, let’s talk about Hat Bars…
Hat Bars in general have been popular in more western parts of the county for years. Anywhere you often see men and women wearing cowboy hats, you will likely find a Hat Bar for designing a custom hat to your specifications. Felton Hat Co. is this same concept but in Florida and with more than cowboy hats! From rancher hats to pork pie hats, fedoras, a large variety of straw hats, and of course, cowboy hats too, we offer hats from a variety of our favorite suppliers for both men and women. We’ve also sourced our favorite fabrics, feathers, charms, vintage matchbooks, a variety of playing cards, dried and faux flowers, and other natural elements like porcupine quills, arrow heads, gemstones, and tons of other fun accessories.
Ok, so now on to what a Hat Bar Party is…
A Hat Bar party is a fun way to gather with your friends and family and ALL MAKE CUSTOM HATS TOGETHER 😍. Sorry for the caps, I get excited. Whether you come to our Hat Lab or we come to you, you can book a Hat Bar party with us and make hats together with your favorite people! It’s usually takes ~2 hours for a Hat Bar party and we highly recommend enjoying it with a beverage (adult if you like) and some lite bites. All these details would be discussed during your phone consultation.
Some of our FAVORITE events we recommend for Hat Bar Parties are corporate team building events, bachelorette parties (and Bachelor parties – we have our men covered too!), bridal showers, small weddings, birthday parties, or even just a fun night out with your friends and family! Here’s what you can expect when you arrive at one of our Hat Bar parties:
Choose a Base Hat – You can choose from straw or felt hats (including rancher, pork pie, cowboy and fedora hats). There are various brim and crown sizes and shapes to choose from in a variety of colors. We will be there to help you choose something that looks great with your face shape, hair, skin color, etc. and will have mirrors available. There will be several sample hats with different styles to take inspiration from if needed.
Browse the Hat Bar – Next, you will browse the Hat Bar where you will find tons of embellishments to work with for designing your custom hat band. Options will include a wide variety of feathers, ribbons, lace, scarves, handkerchiefs, pre-cut strips of material, flowers, greenery, charms, brooches, leather strips, bullets, playing cards, matchbooks, loose matches, and the list goes on!
Design It! – Once you have your style in mind, select your materials, and get started laying out your design! We will be by your side to help figure out the best positioning for your design and once you have it figured out, we will build it for you on the spot and you can take it home that day! Larger groups may be set up as an assisted DIY style because of time constraints or it can be discussed for us to complete the designs in-house, to be picked up at a later date. Special requests such as custom hand-drawn burning or embroidery can also be completed after the event.
Burn It! – Those who choose a 100% wool hat will have the option to have branding irons burned on (depending on the number of guest and time restrictions, we may limit it to 2-3 branding irons per hat). At the end of the experience, you will take home your one-of-a-kind hat to enjoy and have earned the title “Hat Designer”.

There is no minimum on group size at our Hat Lab, but to travel we have a minimum of 10 hats.
